May 15 • Uncommon Patience

Day 310 Patience is not common in my life. I've not been particularly good at delayed gratification, whether talking about electronics, food, or other routines. So when I think about the patience I seem to be employing with recovery, I am encouraged that somewhere in my brain, I'm taking this very seriously, even fighting for my life.

Of course, I'm pretty sure my addict friend can be pretty patient, too. He stalked me for decades before getting what he wanted, so patience itself will not ensure success on this road, but I do think it's a necessary part of any hope for success. –JR
