May 29 • The Power of One Thing

Day 324 It seems the functioning reality of most people's life is that a single negative thing happening during a day can ruin an otherwise pleasant existence. How arrogant are our expectations that we are owed only good things? The opposite is no better, but wouldn't life be grand if a single good occurrence could turn an otherwise lousy day into a joyful one with as much ease as we allow the negative to erase the positive. This is oddly profound to me; could an intentional attitude of bending that good-to-bad ratio make a difference in my life, not to mention the lives I touch? God, allow me to color my world with the hues of all the pleasant parts of life, and to learn through the less pleasant events without allowing them the power to arouse my addict. –JR
